After Tooth Colored Fillings
When an anesthetic has been used, your lips and/or tongue may be numb for a few hours after your procedure. Avoid any hot beverages or chewing until the numbness is completely gone; you can easily burn or bite your lip and/or tongue while you are still numb. Once the anesthetic has completely worn off, you may chew on your fillings as they are fully hardened immediately after being placed.
After your appointment, it is normal to experience some pressure sensitivity for a few days and some temperature sensitivity for up to two weeks. The injection sites from the anesthetic may also be sore for a short period of time. If required, Motrin, Tylenol, or aspirin can be used to alleviate any tenderness.
